Simon Carlén

I am an engineer and entrepreneur working at the intersection of AI, software and business. In autumn 2026 I started the M.Sc. programme in Data Science & AI at Chalmers University of Technology, after completing a B.Sc. in Automation & Mechatronics Engineering with the highest academic results in the programme (GPA 4.9/5.0). In parallel I am pursuing a B.Sc. in Business Administration at the School of Business, Economics and Law. My academic work has been recognized with the Adlerbert Scholarship two years in a row, the Chalmers Mastercard Scholarship, and a place on the Nova 111 Student List 2026 as one of Sweden's top ten engineering students.

At Volvo Buses I have spent the past year moving from vehicle software verification to applied AI. My bachelor thesis produced a CAN-based vehicle simulation tool for shift-left verification of bus software, verified on a physical HIL test rig, and was extended into a full-time role integrating Vector CANoe and developing advanced AEBS tests. During the summer of 2026 I worked as an Applied AI & Machine Learning intern, building MCP servers and AI agent tooling, forecasting models on large-scale bus time-series data and a browser-based AI agent extension, and was offered a continued position in the AI and agent infrastructure area.

As CEO and co-founder of CampusLyan Nordics AB I am building Sweden's student housing platform, from system architecture and hands-on development to pilot agreements with one of Sweden's largest student housing companies and several municipal housing companies. Before that, as President & Group CEO of HandelsFöretagen, the Nordics' largest student-run corporate group with a parent company, six subsidiaries and 180+ employees, I led the group to its strongest year in history: SEK 8.36M in revenue, SEK 2.11M in profit and every subsidiary profitable.

My earlier experience includes management consulting at HandelsConsulting, where I reached 150 percent of my three-month sales target in five weeks and was awarded the company's Medal of Honor for the core value Drive, founding the EdTech platform StuNote, and serving as a Group Leader in the Swedish Armed Forces, where I learned the value of resilience and teamwork under pressure.
